The Beginning
Joe Pinewood establishes Pineworks Construction from his garage, completing his first timber frame barn for a local dairy farm.
Three generations of craftsmanship, one family tradition
It all began in 1978 when Joe Pinewood returned from Vietnam to Maple Ridge with his grandfather's tools and a vision. He had learned the art of timber framing from his grandfather, who built barns and homes throughout the region during the Great Depression.
With determination and skill, Joe began taking on projects in the community. His reputation grew quickly - every joint was precise, every beam was true, and he never left a job site until he was confident it would stand for generations.
"Your work is your signature. Make it something you're proud to put your name on."- Joe Pinewood, 1978

Joe's son, Mike, joins the business after high school. Together they complete their first residential timber frame home.
Pineworks moves into its current workshop - a restored 1920s barn that Joe renovated himself. The building becomes integral to both the family and the business.
Mike's son, Jake, returns from college with an architecture degree and innovative ideas for blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design.
Pineworks celebrates 40 years in business, having completed over 200 timber frame structures across the region. Joe, now 75, continues to visit the workshop weekly.

We maintain Joe's original tools and methods, measuring twice and cutting once. Time-tested techniques ensure lasting quality.
For 40 years, our business has been built on trust and integrity. A handshake and a promise remain our foundation.
We source timber from local family-owned mills and ensure every piece serves its purpose. Nothing goes to waste.
